Corpse Carnival is a game I made in about a month for the #2 RPG Maker Horror gamejam by Beregon.
The theme was: Macabre Carnival.
This game took a lot of time for me to fully conceptualize this entry from start to finish, if I'm being completely honest. Still, I was actually happy with the end result!
I knew the moment I saw the announcement for this game jam, that I wanted to do something with a brother and sister going to a carnival. I just had to figure out what the eerie thing/threat would be, and flip-flopped about it being a type of clown or something similar.
I had a lot of fun making the map(s), especially implementing using doodads for the surrounding trees of the main area. I also liked having a more full cast of characters, despite not a lot of detailed conversation or gameplay. In that, though, I think I ended up making something that had a bit more ACTUAL GAME to it, rather than a lot of dialogue with moving from map to map without player input (i.e., my last gamejam entry, Azure Hue.)
I liked adding other endings, and I guess I have a soft spot for bratty types of player characters, as is evident in this entry, haha! There's some flickering lights, chasers and an overall eerie feeling, but I don't think it should be too scary for players who are sensitive to that kind of thing. I hope you'll check it out when you have the time!
