Music

Music I love!

I have such a weird array of music I enjoy, so I'm never sure what to say when people ask me what my favorite type of music is.

So, I'll list some songs/links and info to ones that I like to listen to on loop sometimes :>

‼️Song links will be outgoing links to either youtube, spotify or google.

Songs (in no particular order)

Song Title Artist Feeling
Nobody Mitski This song always invokes a very solemn, isolating feeling in me. I tend to imagine lots of scenarios involving OCs and the like in general when it comes to most music I listen to, and this song is no different.

I love this song, and it tugs on my heartstrings at times- feeling like you're the only one in the world. "Your" world, looking for anything "real" or "tangible", and finding that "nobody" is around at all- you're all alone in your head. That kind of feeling.

真夜中のドア / Stay With Me (Mayonaka no Door) 松原みき (Miki Matsubara) (Look don't @ me i kno it's a basic song atp leave me alone)

Another heartbreaking song; I love the tempo and overall beat of this track- it's very nostalgic, for someone who grew up in the 90s and listened to a lot of 80s music.

The beat makes me want to get up and move, but it's lyrics make my heart ache. Truly a beautiful melody by the late Matsubara.

街のドルフィン (Dolphin in Town) 濱田金吾 (Kingo Hamada) My #1 karaoke song, especially on nights when my husband and I drink! This song has a nice tempo, silly lyrics and just an overall feeling of relaxation. It feels very summer-y, imo!
Tus Ojos Belanova I've been in love with this song since I first heard it back in the early 2000s on a flash video over on deviantart/newgrounds.

Nostalgic of it's time, this song makes me feel familar and comforted. I'm reminded of many different types of media in the early 2000s, particularly anime that were big in the time period- it can feel a bit silly, but I feel happy and content whenever I listen to it.

I love many songs by Belanova, but this one in particular is a definitely a top fav of mine!
A Place of No Eyes Am-Boy This song is definitely ethereal in my mind. I found this song while I was first getting into Yume Nikki when it boomed in popularity over on tumblr back in the early 2010s.

It's hard for me not to somewhat associate the game when I hear this song- I feel eerie, but isolated in a way one might feel lying on their back in a lazy river, or a body of water, looking up at the sky or the water filtering in from above.

I can get sentimental and probably embarrassingly poetic about the types of feelings I feel whenever I listen to some types of music ;w;
Prom Night Anamanaguchi (Ft. Bianca Raquel) The entire album of "Endless Fantasy" by Anamanaguchi has been a top staple in my music likes since it's release in 2013. I discovered their music during a very, very dark point in my life, and the Endless Fantasy album was what kept me feeling grounded while I was on my journey towards getting medicated for mental illness and self-harm.

Needless to say: Anamanaguchi is an incredibly sentimental and meaningful music group to me, especially in regards to my sense of self and autonomy.

I would listen to the whole album on loop on my walk to work for almost a year straight, back then. I love the old-school style, and I love being reminded of rare moments of happiness in my childhood.

With GB and chiptune-esque materials, upbeat tempo and really beautifully arranged scores that fill my mind with creativity.

This track in particular is what inspired a story of characters that I still hold dear to my heart.
Deadlock Go! Child I really like the tone and tempo of this song- not only was I reminded of my love for old-school type chiptue-like beats, but also something I can't quite explain...

It's like how one might feel when finally reaching the ending credits to their favorite game. Or maybe, feeling like: despite all the rough things, we ended up making it through ok..for the most part.

Interestingly, the "try again, try again" part in the lyrics made me think of the game, "In Stars in Time" by insertdisc5. If not only for the repetition, then for the old-school type beat!
Waiting for Love Avicii yes, the cat-guy meme song, shut up

I fell in love with this song once I read up about Avicii and his legacy. This song reminds me of old times- times when I would dance around in my room as a teenager.

I think I'm reminded of similar type music I'd listen to- especially anime-soundtracks. I can invision a specific idea in my mind, if I was able to animate it in full ; _ ;

Definitely worth a listen, especially if you haven't heard the rest of the song!
Attitude Crystal Kay Also known as the Parappa the Rapper anime season 2 opening! I fell in love with this song when I learned abt the Parappa anime back 2001-2003 era I think.

Parappa was definitely up there in my hyperfixations for a long time during it's run on the PS1 and PS2- I'm a huge sucker for rhythm type games! But about this song...

I think of happy times- light-hearted romance, a nice beat that makes me want to get up and dance ;w; it certainly feels "of it's time"- end of the 90s, into the 2000s style of pop, maybe? Either way, if you haven't heard it, maybe give it a listen!

Additonally, I was happy to know that Crystal Kay is still an active singer- very exciting to know, as I seem to find music by artists who are either no longer with us, or have since stopped releasing new albums 😭
ばらの花 (Rose Flower) Quruli I can't remember where exactly I heard this for the first time, but I do know it was back in the early 2000s shortly after meeting my husband in high school, so this is obviously a very nostalgic song for me.

The mellow melody and somber feeling of a rainy day and being by the ocean really stuck with me when listening to this song...I feel like I can close my eyes and drift away to a melancholy way of thinking, but also in a gounding sort of sense...another hard thing to put into words for myself.

A long while ago, before I began studying Japanese, I had forgotten the name of this song, and tried so hard to recall it's name while searching for it;;

Back then, there was only one website that let you search via sound (before major apps and smartphones were very popular), so I hummed it and found it again that way. I really love this song!
Sunset Glow Big Bang I loved this song sooo much after it's release- I found it from a flash animation someone on DeviantArt used back in 2008-2009. Something about rabbits maybe..? Either way...

Another uppity, pop/get up and dance kind of song! I knew next to nothing about K-Pop and bands like that, so shortly after finding this song, I tried looking for similar kinds of upbeat music- I think I only ended up finding one or two other South Korean songs that "quenched my thirst" for a same kind of feeling like this song.

Again, I'm reminded of how bright and colorful artwork of the "era" was back then- lots of different experimental art pieces took DA (DeviantArt) by storm- many of which have since deactivated their accounts;; But it's still a nice memory, imo.

I guess I should say this song mostly reminds me of lackadaisical musings while thinking of artistic ideas back in high school when discovering different artists online (:
Love Romantic Remix Parappa the Rapper 2 I specifically really like this version of this song, because it was accompanied by this really well made visual with a Miku-clone (???) and just really cute artwork!

As a Parappa 1-2 fan, this was a gem to find, especially after the 2nd game's release. Love Romantic was somewhat a forgettable song in my mind, but after finding this remix, I've found a new appreciation for it (And the fact that it's tempo is way more upbeat definitely helps, haha!)

Music like this is yet another reason I find it quite difficult to respond to the question: "What kind of music do you like?"- Video game music? Upbeat/dance? *Shrugs*
Tip Taps Tip HalCali AKA The Eureka 7 ending theme (one of? I can't recall.)- I barely remember anything from that anime, which is where I first learned of this song to begin with- it was always such a nice tune to me, I couldn't help but look up the song way back when.

Again, I discovered this song back before I owned a cellphone in the early 2000s, so there wasn't a way to look up just what or where to find this song (besides the obvious- pay attention to the ending credits but, well;;) Keeping in mind Eureka 7 was on Toonami/Adult Swim I believe/AKA cable television, so...

TL;DR: I just like how bubbly and soft(?) this song makes me feel!
